The Bass family has been busy growing up.
Logan has spent this month preparing for Provincial Exams with lots of studying and we cannot wait for school to be over. Casey and I have been working away at the yard in an attempt to bring some life back into it, and Kevin's been working very hard to provide for us so we may continue to thrive.
We've officially become a mini-van family and LOVE it. Casey and I have yet to discover a "routine" that works for us so I've resolved to the fact that routines aren't our thing.
Casey is hitting her 5 month mark. She is growing so fast that makes me sad. I am working very hard to make sure I don't miss a minute.
She smiles 24/7 with a huge her cheeks must be hurting smile, but full on giggling isn't common for her, we like to think she is a very thoughtful and insightful baby or a silent laugher. When she does give us giggles we are over joyed and they are soft quiet little giggles or very loud ear piercing screeching.
She discovered her hands and reaches to touch or grab everything. Her favourite toy appears to be a doggy with dangly crinkly feet and vibrates.
She is no longer easy to put to bed (soother, swaddle and she just goes right to sleep) and fusses while she attempts to fall asleep and usually requires a few parent intervention to have calm down a bit. She doesn't stay asleep through the night any longer, which given her weight its probably best she eats a meal at 2:30am even if mom doesn't love that. Napping is still done in small intervals 20-45 mins is common and she is a very light sleeper, this lack of napping doesn't give me time to do much such as a blog post. She must have her soother, must be swaddled or snuggled in your arms with her little blankkie over her face.
She has mastered rolling to her belly so it's only a matter of time before she's rolling away from me whenever she wants.
Casey's 4 month shots revealed her weight is a whooping 10lbs 15oz, which is far too small given her length and age and puts her in the 3rd percentile. Logan was in the 90th percentile. She has dropped off the growth chart. We are only mildly concerned as she is teeny as it is, but she is extremely happy and content and this teeny girl baby thing seems to run in our family so we are sure she is fine. At 3 months I weighed 12lbs 13oz.
I've taken to drinking Guinness and popping special vitamins in efforts to ensure my milk supply remains ok. Casey still only nurses, she has had an ounce of milk from bottle once and then wasn't interested in the bottle from her Gran while being babysat as I thought she would, so bottles may not be in our future.
June has brought us plenty of rain, which has helped our yard and lots of prep for the summer out at the Lake. Kevin has installed our new bedroom floor at the Lake. After our water mishap and tearing out the carpet last April we are so pleased to have finally made a decision about proper flooring and have it all in. We still have lots of things on our to do list for the summer and are looking forward to enjoying what summer has to offer.
