Casey 7 Months and counting

(This is just a rambling of Miss Casey's progress for my records, sorry no photos on this one)

August 26, 2014 was Miss Casey's 6 months shots (although she was 7 months old) and she was a trooper.  I was very nervous and not looking forward to them at all, but we lived to tell about it.

She weighed a whopping 13.4lbs and was 63.9cm tall and while still itsy bitsy is growing at her own pace and the nurse no longer seems concerned as they feel this is just her size.

Today, Miss Casey is sleeping through the night (again) for me, though getting her to sleep is certainly no fun for anyone with her screeching and big huge giant sad tears.  She cries when she knows you are putting her to bed and doesn't settle easily.  Out of frustration I've resorted to letting her cry and this seems to be working (I know I know you've all tole me this was the route to go, but I wasn't ready then)  To date we've had only one (knock on wood) night of no sleep and only screaming, at the lake no less, where she was relentless and the only way I could calm her was with some Baby Einstein You Tube vides.  3 am learning to count was not my idea of fun and by 4:30am I had given up and dad took over.  It was until later on that I realized teething was her issue.

Casey still adores her soother, but only for sleeping now.  No longer does she get it unless going to nap or bed and we've only had one night where she slept completely without it.  She is a wiggly sleeper, she still sleeps on her tummy and does an aggressive bum wiggle as she tries to settle and when that doesn't work she work in a head shake, which she has always done.  Now she has resorted to full on rocking forward and backwards until she is at the very top of the crib head in the corner and often bangs her had lightly against her crib.  This no longer alarms me and I realize it is just her way of trying to get comfortable.  BUT if you truly want a treat Kevin imitating Casey trying to fall asleep might just be the funniest thing going right now.

Casey now tastes everything on the spoon before opening up (no tricking her).  She sticks her tongue just out of her mouth to the spoon, then gives what you are feeding her a little taste before deciding she likes it.  She is eating, yams, sweet potatoes (no they are not the same), carrots, beets, rutabaga, zucchini, butternut squash, avocado, peaches, pears, banana, apple, apricot, plums, blueberries, and finally most recently a bit of oatmeal.  She won't touch quinoa, rice, broccoli, or peas and each day she will decide what she liked yesterday she no longer likes and vice versa.  Newly added are nom nom cookies, puffed wheat, and bits of waffle soaked in berry juices.  When she likes something she eats a tonne and for her size we have no idea where she puts it all.  Getting her drink anything is still an impossible task, she either doesn't like or doesn't understand how to suck from a sippy cup, bottles are her least favourite, she hasn't figured out the straw and occasionally she will sip from the side of a glass.  I do worry as a mom would that she is not getting enough fluids.

She is down to nursing about 2 times a day, but with her recent cold 3 times a day.  She no longer cries to be nursed or pushes her food away in preference for her special mommy milk.

We are certain she is teething and think we can find the start of something poking through her gums, but it's been 2.5 weeks and nothing yet.  Teething tablets are our saviour and really seem to calm her down.  She gets herself so worked up on bad days that I often spend the day holding her in my lap and playing quietly with a toy to chew on.

She is grabbing for everything in sight and of course anything she gets her hands on goes directly into her little mouth.  She loves her excersaucer and jolly jumper and still enjoying rolling all around the floor.  She now pushes up on all fours and we think she is beginning to dance to music when she rocks back and forth in our arms, but it's unclear if that's for sure what she's doing.

Just this week we taught to her wave bye or goodnight, but of course only on her terms.  And as any parent would we shriek in delight and clap every time she does and have to anyone who is patient enough to watch.

She is really becoming quite good at sitting up, but not on her own as of yet, but so very close.
