What is this yellow I see?

Guess that time of year has arrived and is fading quickly
While I'm saddened to see it, it is my absolute favourite
Those yellow, orange and red leaves are all falling gracefully and beautifully to the ground and if I ignore that this also means winter is around the corner then I am truly in awe of it's how wonderful this is
Add in, the cabin and it provides this lovely sensory overload at this time of year
that crisp morning air tingling my skin and toes as I head outdoors with a steaming coffee in hand,
not so crisp that you are freezing and shivering (because that would change from crisp to brisk or downright freezing air), but enough to remind you that you are completely and fully alive and the day will be beautiful
the air that smells so clean and fresh and makes me inhale deeply
the smell of cranberries ripened in the trees
the leaves building this earthy scent (which come spring isn't as nice I'll admit and not smelly so freshly earthly)
the wood from the trees coming clean and leaking that fresh woodsy scent just barely there before they seal themselves off and go dormant for whats to come, (the season that shall remain unnamed)
the incredible colours coming alive with those vibrant yellows and orange against some slight green from those leaves still holding on tightly to the memories of summer
and occasionally a vibrant red or purple from leaves, berries and seeds
and not to forget the lovely amount of fresh but must be eaten right now type foods, those fresh from the summer and completely ripe to be turned into wonderful fall creations
peaches and nectarines ripe and sweet, almost too ripe, which is just the way I like them,
all apples to be baked with (I've been baking for too much in my household with boxes of apples from an apple tree in Brian's yard)
pumpkin and cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg filling the air with warmth and a feeling of comfort
all the seasons potatoes and carrots, onion, beets, brussel sprouts tasting of clean garden soil
Yes this is truly my favourite season, though short it is the most beautiful

Casey and I spent a quiet Saturday afternoon together while the boys golfed.
Logan's school is quite ambitious and offers a variety of different learning options and activities and one of the current favourites is Golf.
(Coming up is hiking and fishing, rock climbing and frisbee golf, then kayaking, canoe and scuba diving, of course he does have to do some regular schooling, math, science, english, social and a new core subject literacy)
Logan, being one of the only kids in his grade to already have an understanding of this game of golf and somewhat familiar with the frustrations of hitting that teeny white ball with a stick that has a small head on it, is pleased to be the knowledgable and slightly more skilled boy in class at this game.  It has also made him eager to test out his newly learned skills learned from the golf pro earlier  last week, so off they went to the course.
Us girls started the afternoon with some quiet floor play time and toys and a book for mommy, we then took to walking (our third true attempt at a walk since my "injury").  We took our leisurely time strolling down the walkways, breathing in the air, watching and listening to the trees, the birds and occasional bug.
Once back home, we bundled up and enjoyed a toasty fire and a book and Miss Casey took a cat nap.

Miss Casey is almost mobile now, at 8 months as of September 26th, fully up on all fours, rocking back and forth and pulling or throwing herself forward to get where she wants to go.  She can sit without assistance and topples over when she is done just sitting there or wants to get on the move again.  Sitting is doesn't last long for this little busy body.  She has not figured out how to move her hands or legs forward with her forward attempts at crawling motion and often ends up rolling off to one side or tumbling forward on her face, but this doesn't faze her one bit.  I expect she'll be full on crawling any minute and then pulling herself up on everything very soon after that and we will all be feeling the effects of exhaustion from chasing her down.
Casey has sat in her first restaurant high chair and first grocery cart without incident recently, even though she's still a bit small to be able to do these things.  She loves it.  I think she enjoys the chance to look around at more things and be more involved with what is going on.  She has officially taken to smiling at most strangers and appears less worried when they say hello to her.  But can still be spooked by anyone that might be too overwhelming (too loud or high pitched, new type of appearance such as beards as it would seem facial hair and older men bother her a little bit or someone too new getting aggressively her space or between her and mom seem to startle her)
