Never a dull moment in the Adventure called Life

a weekend of lessons:

1.  Huskies are every intelligent and FAST!  Some friends brought out their gorgeous dogs and took them for a walk.  Those dogs saw 2 deer and took off for the WHOLE NIGHT in the middle of no where!  Know what they were doing?  Hunting those deer.  The deer came into camp in the morning and brought the dogs with them.

2.  Have all your tools with you.  Okay so maybe this is excessive, if you see all our tools you'd understand that perhaps this is not possible.  But plan for everything.

First our weekend didn't start when it should've due to complications at work, but no big deal so off we headed for a camping trip.  Next, we arrive and my brother has not, turns out his truck broke down on his way out and had to be towed back home.
So next morning dad headed out to get him and his young family and turned out to be a beautiful day.

3.  Have an adequately packed First Aid Kit including a back up and more than one vehicle handy.

As Saturday progressed things went from great to really awful in seconds.  First Logan fell out of a tree and on his way down caught his arm on a broken branch.  This broken branch felt the need to get revenge and took it out on Logan's arm causing quite the tear, details that I will spare you as you could be eating right now.  Let's just say it wasn't pretty.

Dad always says "It'll be 45 minutes before we can get you to the hospital so that is going to hurt for a long time"  He knows from experience.  Well, HE WAS WRONG.  It turned out to be 1.5 hours due to detours.
We dropped everything, our fireman friend pulled out a first aid kit like you've never seen, bandaged Logan up real good and we were off, not a minute wasted.  Funny how fast you move in an emergency.

Not 10 minutes down the road our truck made a sound you don't want to hear as you are racing down the highway to the hospital, COME ON!!!!  One quick phone call and we got every man in camp tossing tools in the back of another truck and my sister in her van to come take Logan and I to the hospital and help Kevin get what he needs to fix the truck.

REALLY!!!  NO breaks for the Bass Family?

Kevin had to head into town and finally a break.  He made it to the hardware store 5 mins before closing, voila truck repaired.  At that very moment you have to be thankful the Kevin's career choice came in so handy.

Logan on the other hand had another hour to wait for his repair.  He was imagining all types of terrible things and there was no consoling him.  It was not a shining moment for anyone, the screaming broke my heart.  BUT he pulled through and let them hold his arm and do what had to be done like a real trooper.

THEN to enjoy the rest of the weekend and let loose because  we all needed it!

There will be no more tree climbing on my watch, our first aid kit is getting a crazy make over, our truck will be packed with tools, when you hurt like that you can have as many smores as you can eat, it's unlikely we will ever camp is such remote areas alone (thank goodness for our family and friends), we will always have cell phone service, we warn new comers of deer in the area and we will never forget to say I love your or hug Logan.

We also have learned that we are capable of dealing with many things and once all is said and done we all smile and laugh and can say we had a good weekend.
